INB Sponsors Lunch Over Spring Break

Springfield, Illinois (April 13, 2014) – Central Illinois Foodbank along with Illinois National Bank teamed up to provide lunches for kids in need during spring break. INB has traditionally sponsored a spring break snack pantry, but this year they decided to do something a little different by sponsoring lunch at Brandon Court, April 10th-April 13th.

“INB likes to be hand-on when it comes to community service, so for the last six years, our employees have been fundraising for, then buying and distributing, food that the children who live in Brandon Court could take home to eat over spring break. Now, thanks to the work of Kids’ Café, we’re pleased to be able to direct those funds right to a lunch program,” said INB President and CEO, Sarah Phalen.

In Sangamon County, over 9,000 children don’t know where their next meal will come from. Children are most often at risk of hunger during school breaks, making the spring and summer some of the most difficult times for children in our community.

There was an average of 20 kids that were served lunch daily during the week of spring break.
