Amber Bruce is a mother of two young boys. Amber and her boyfriend both work, but just can’t pay all the bills and keep food on the table. Amber and her boyfriend have turned to Kumler Outreach Ministries in Springfield to help fill their pantry.
“It’s hard, there’s a lot of people out there that need help and it’s hard to admit you do. But when I hear my kids saying they’re hungry and I open the fridge and there’s in there, literally nothing, it becomes a matter of having food on the table and just going to the pantry,” said Amber.
With a two year old and an eight year it’s just getting harder. Their growing bodies require more nutrition, leaving Amber and her family to scrape by, like so many other families in our community. “We are just using paycheck after paycheck to buy food and it just doesn’t cut it.”
Amber and her family aren’t planning on using the pantry for much longer. They have been working really hard to change their circumstances and have one goal that they are working towards. “We’ve made a budget plan and we are trying. We are trying to do the right thing and hopefully one day we will be able to be the ones giving back. That’s what our goal is.”
